Qigong, pronounced “ch’i gong,” is an ancient practice using the mind, body and breath for both healing and well-being that was developed in China thousands of years ago.
Stretching for flexibility and Breathwork from the renowned Yoga Teachers College® school. Stretching for flexibility – so many of us are not meeting our basic range of motion (ROM) needs.
Translated to ‘Pole/Post standing' – both a physical and mind practice - don’t be deceived, this can be a challenging pose that can help to align posture, move and cultivate energy, and as used as a meditation can help focus the mind/body & breath.
14 movements to open and stimulate the meridian channels, preparing for deeper levels of Qigong.
The most ‘flowing’ Qigong from the White Tiger Qigong school. This sequence offers a more gentle and smooth massage of the organs through rhythmic, flowing movements whilst also improving joint mobility of the arms, shoulders, neck, spine and hips. It focuses mostly on the core of the body, moving the spine in just about every direction possible (8 Trigram). There is a big emphasis on simultaneously wringing out the meridians of the arms and using the legs as a strong root into the earth.
The 5 elements of Chinese Medicine are Water, Earth, Fire, Wood, and Metal. Each form is associated with an element, a colour, an organ, an emotion, a season, a direction, and more. This dynamic form from the White Tiger Qigong School combines deep rhythmic movements of five different animals, Qigong meditation, deep Qigong breathing techniques, and a strong, focused spirit. Each animal form works to heal and bring into balance the internal organs, the meridians of the body, and the stretch/squeeze of the fascia/muscles.
The six healing sounds are a set of Qigong exercises aimed at detoxifying and strengthening each internal organ.
Warm-up/flexibility coaching (core: back, shoulders, hips, hamstrings) and conditioning of the lower body (Applicable also to the Science of stretch classes)
Using a bamboo stick or hands at the end of each session to stimulate the skin, muscles, tendons, bone, and marrow. It can help disperse stagnant Qi and stimulate the lymphatic system which can help remove toxins, reduce swelling, relax muscles, reduce stress, and strengthen your immune system.
We will use numerous breathwork techniques for different purposes but fundamentally to improve overall condition. We can use the breathwork to connect with self, release stagnant Qi, improve Vagus Tone, relax - reduce stress, invigorate, tone the diaphragm, improve the circulation of blood & oxygen and so much more!
*If you have or have had a serious injury, suffer from a chronic condition (mental or physical), are pregnant (specifically pertaining to the stretches), or suffer from high blood pressure these classes may not be suitable for you, please check with your health practitioner.
